Probate and Estate Administration
At Donn & Co we understand that the loss of a loved one can leave those left behind
feeling extremely upset, anxious and confused.
We strive to offer a caring and sympathetic but practical service when administering an estate after
death. We can establish whether it is necessary to obtain a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration
to allow assets to be collected and distributed in accordance with the wishes of the deceased.
At Donn & Co we are happy to deal with as much or little of the administration as you need.
Partners of the firm are willing to accept appointment as executors, or we will work with the
executors appointed by the Will or the administrators of the estate where the deceased did
not leave a Will.
Typically the administration of an estate will involve:
Locate and read through the will (if there is one)
Collect details of the assets of the estate, including date of death valuations
Complete and submit the Inheritance Tax Forms
Apply for the Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration
Collect in the assets
Pay any inheritance tax owed and settle liabilities
Pay out gifts in accordance with will
Distribute remaining assets
Prepare and provide estate accounts
Maintain full records
Advise executors about powers and responsibilities
At Donn & Co we will provide you with an estimate of the total cost of the administration of the estate at the outset. At Donn & Co our policy is to charge only for the work carried out. We do not charge a percentage of the estate on top of any fees.
